Happy New Month Guys,
Expect great things from yourself!!!

Diving face first into this post.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a pretty mess where we can't afford some of our fancy products or we are low on cash and can't immediately afford some of our staple products.
During such times it is usually helpful to know how to make the best of what you've got until you're able to restock your staples.
So here are a few beauty hacks to get us through some of these jams:
1. Aloevera to soothe surface burns and as face moisturizer
When you burn yourself while using a flat iron,a curling wand, or maybe you accidentally grazed a hot pot while cooking,it helps to immediately apply cool aloevera gel over the burn spot since aloevera inhibits inflammation,is an anti-bacterial and acts as an analgesic to help relieve pain of wounds. This will prevent scarring and is also helpful with sunburns and abrasions. Also, prior to applying my makeup,I usually apply aloevera gel as a face moisturizer cos asides being a great moisturiser,it is also pretty lightweight and doesn't make me sweat before, during and after makeup application.

2. Mascara Wands and Eyeliner
When your mascara tube runs empty and it's about time to toss it,keep the wand. You could use it as a brow spoolie, all you need do is wash it thoroughly till clean and VOILA-you are good to go.Also the bristles of mascara wands differ depending on whatever effect is to be achieved e.g volumizing, lengthening or curling, and between us girls we've definitely used certain 'killer' mascaras that we didn't wanna let go of,truth is most mascara compositions are similar or the same so it's pretty much the wand that does the magic. So you could always choose to re-use such wands in applying other mascaras to get said effect. Also if you run out of eyeliner, you could always run your mascara wand on an angled brush and apply it onto your eyelids as you would a gel or liquid eyeliner.

3. Vaseline to prolong wear of fragrances
I'm pretty sure no one wants to spend hard earned Nigerian currency on a bottle of perfume and not get your money's worth.I don't know about you but if I spend so much on a Marc Jacobs' Oh Lola perfume (*it's on my updated wishlist*),I expect to have a Beyonce moment all day everyday-EVERYBODY BE KNOWING I'M IN THE BUILDING.Lol, forgive the crazy.Basically,to prolong the scent of your perfume, you wanna apply vaseline(because of its occlusive property i.e it stays on the surface of the skin and isn't well absorbed) or sometimes a little water to your pulse points located behind your ear, at the bottom of your throat, on your wrist, inside your elbow, and behind your knee. This usually helps keep that scent going for a longer period of time especially for Eau de parfums as against Eau de toilettes that are designed essentially for shorter wear on the skin.

4. Olive oil as Makeup Remover & Cleanser
This is an Oldie but Goodie, seen me through major lazy days and counting.I would be too tired to do my usual nighttime ritual (don't be me in that regard please),or probably I had just run out of my trusty wipes and I would end up using a cotton round and olive oil to take off my makeup and if I'm feeling generous I splash cool or hot water on my face. A better option would be to use any of the oil cleansing methods from my previous post taking your skin type into account. The good thing about using olive oil as a makeup remover is that it moisturises your skin at the same instant it's taking off your makeup and it's effective with waterproof products,so honestly who wouldn't want that?

5. Use a T-Shirt instead of a towel
I've mentioned previously that I use a cotton T-shirt to dry my hair after a wash, this is because it's a lot more gentle on your hair and doesn't pull at it like a towel would.I honestly wouldn't put all this back-breaking effort into growing my hair only to end up losing some-doesn't make any sense. Also towels have been known to cause some frizziness but I don't think I mind the frizz as I do the hair-loss.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar as Toner
The product itself is a classic,,I could go on and on about the various wonders of acv but I'm sure eventually I will chip in quite a few over time.ACV is known for its purifying and cleansing property and as such can be used as a toner for your skin.It is also effective in breakouts, acne-scarring and hyper pigmentation(when one area of your skin is darker than the rest) and helps produce better looking skin generally.

So guys that's about all the hacking I can do for today but I intend to put out more over time cos there are quite a bit of them so do expect subsequent posts (I might do a series on this).

Until my next post,
Happy Hacking!!!
